User-Generated Content Edit

User-generated content (UGC) can be defined as "any data or media that is contributed by individual users of a website." [Wiki References 1] The Tow Center for Digital Journalism suggest that UGC is used in reporting by professional news organizations' everyday, but there isn't a single standard for how it is used or when it is used.[Wiki References 2] Some organizations such as CNN's iReport and the BBC have created in-house operations to handle UGC while others subscribe to services such as Storyful or they might use YouTube to find UGC. This wiki is about how different organizations approach UGC and what types of stories UGC is making the most impact on.

If you want to edit or add to this wiki, please read the Rules and Expectations for contributing first.
